Tim Yankosky

Tim Yankosky sees his work as a personal narrative, a collection of stories that have shaped his growth. He strives to communicate the beauty of the quotidian struggle that sees us through one day and into the next. The hero in his work is a goldfish. He explores what we all know about limited movement and opportunity, boundaries and longing.

bio

Before he began painting, Yankosky was a ceramic sculptor and jewelry maker. He has always incorporated found objects-rusted wire, old floorboards, salvaged plumbing-into his work. The extended life of these elements adds to the depth of each piece as he builds up their rich surfaces.

Originally from New Jersey, where he studied education, Yankosky has been making art for several years. He has exhibited around the Bay Area, with shows at Hang Art Gallery, Soul Arch, SF State Gallery, and Space 743 Gallery. Yankosky currently lives and works in San Francisco.
